A multi-purpose, multi-channel radiospectrograph for the Parkes telescope.
Abstract
The design and applications of the 1-MHz-resolution 96-channel filter spectrograph planned for the Parkes telescope are presented. The telescope will perform dynamic spectral studies of decimeter-wavelength and meter-wavelength bursts from flare stars, along with large-scale pulsar surveys and observations of the interplanetary scintillation of compact sources. It is shown that the sensitivity (3-sigma) of each channel of the spectrograph is about 1.5 Jy for a 1-s integration.
