Radio astronomy at Dover Heights
Abstract
Early work in radio astronomy from Dover Heights field station near Sydney, Australia is recounted, covering the years 1946-1954. Studies of the Cygnus-A source, the Crab Nebula, the galactic center and other subjects are emphasized. The construction of new observational facilities at the station is described, and cooperative work with astronomical teams around the world is recounted. Illustrative photographs of the station and its installations are presented.
