An anomalous stellar image on an astronomical slide photograph.
Abstract
There has been considerable interest in the appearance and nature of images on astronomical photographs which may suggest a transient optical event as the source of the image. In particular, much has been made of possible connections between such images and hypothesized optical activity associated with gamma-ray bursters. This paper describes the investigation of such an image, and discusses briefly various hypotheses as to the nature and source of the image under investigation.
