Search for light flashes from a gamma ray burst source
Abstract
With the discovery of evidence for recurrent bursts from the direction of the supernova remnant N49 in the LMC (Golenetskii et al. 1984), it became evident that it may be worthwhile having a monitor trained on N49. This paper describes a suitable telescope and camera which has now been in operation since the beginning of 1984 in the grounds of Canopus Observatory.
