Synthetic OH band spectra in G and K stars.
Abstract
An examination is undertaken of the possibility of using OH lines to derive information on stellar atmosphere oxygen abundance. Attention is given to the A2Sigma-chi2eta(0,0) band of OH in the 3O85 A region, which has been studied by Goldman and Gillis (1981). A n initial survey involved the computation of synthetic spectra for a range of models. The outstanding feature of the spectra as a group is noted to be the great strength of the OH lines, especially at low temperatures.
