Alignment of southern radio sources.
Abstract
Examples of alignment in the radio structure of strong close sources in the southern sky are presented. The sources were mapped at high resolution using the telescopes of Sydney University and the MOST telescope. The sources with aligned radio structures are: 0211-479; 0214-483; 1318-43 and 1322-42 (Cen-A). The possible physical mechanisms for the observed parallel structures are identified, including parallel spin in galaxies with similar directions of angular momentum. The orientation and position angles in the system Cen A and NGC 5090/91 are shown in a line drawing.
