HCO+ in NGC 6334.
Abstract
A series of maps are presented which show the distribution of HCO(+) in the direction of NGC 6334 as a function of radial velocity. The observations were carried out in May and June 1979 as part of a larger program of HCO(+) observations at the Epping 4-m millimeter-wave radio telescope. The radial velocities described in the maps are separated by about 1.2 km/s. A comparison of the HCO(+) contours in the maps with contours of 69-micron and 6-cm continuum emission indicates a close relationship between molecules, dust and ionized gas in the overall diffuse components and in more compact regions of NGC 6334.
