DDO photometry of the HR 1614 moving group
Abstract
DDO photometry is presented for members of the HR 1614 moving group, providing information on the cyanogen abundances. These stars are compared with a number of super-metal-rich (SMR) stars with respect to C(45-48), C(42-45), C(41-42), B-V, and U-B, and a quantitative measurement of the cyanogen excesses for HR 1614 giants is obtained. It is concluded that the stars do not appear to be a homogeneous sample with respect to their cyanogen abundances, but a large proportion of the sample, both giants and dwarfs, show similar DDO colors to the SMR stars, and UBV photometry of the CN-strong giants is also consistent with this result. The significance of the number of CN-strong stars in the group and the importance of the group for the study of the early chemical evolution of the galactic disk are discussed.
