Numerical experiments on planetesimal aggregation during the formation of the solar system.
Abstract
A numerical analysis is undertaken to evaluate different hypotheses of planetary formation through the aggregation of small particles. It is found that the planetary jetstream configuration is produced when condensation and evolution of the bodies occur within a Prentice-Laplacian gas ring. Excess kinetic energy is damped out through collisions, and a gradual migration of planetesimals toward regions of higher density can then take place.
