Effect of the Muon Contribution on the Barometric Coefficient of Neutron Monitors
Abstract
The results presented were obtained with a low-multiplicity neutron monitor employing silicon dioxide as reflector, moderator, and producer. The obtained results are compared with data reported by other investigators. Good agreement was found among the barometric coefficients of the various monitors involved. There were, however, significant differences among the muon contributions at sea level. Explanations for these observations are discussed.
