Dynamics of a magnetized gravitating dusty plasma

Linear stability of a magnetized dusty plasma is studied for the regime with ≈ 1 (where G is the universal gravitational constant, m_d is the grain mass and q_d is the grain charge). We demonstrate that the magnetic force plays a stabilizing role and, together with electrostatic repulsion, counter gravitational condensation. The implications of this result for astrophysical situations are briefly discussed.
