Verification of the model of outer radiation belt high-latitude boundary by latest electron flux measurements in LEO
Abstract
Statistics-based semi-empirical analytical high-latitude boundary of the Earth outer radiation belt (mostly for trapped 100 keV energetic electron flux profiles) model equation described its position dependent on UT and geomagnetic activity level was verified to the newly acquired data measured onboard low Earth orbit satellite Meteor-M2 in 2018-2019. New solar minimum lead to new quiet geomagnetic conditions which let confirm general accuracy of the HLBORB model and add corrections related to global field changes. The model parameters for the stormy conditions were also reviewed. The semi-empirical model of high-latitude boundary of the outer radiation belt has been compared to the lowest side of the Ovation modeled Auroral ovals.
