Developing a vision for exoplanetary transit spectroscopy: a shared window on the analysis of planetary atmospheres and of stellar magnetic structure
Abstract
We describe how accurate exoplanet atmospheres' characterization will inevitably require taking into consideration stellar inhomogeneities caused by convection and magnetic fields. Disentangling these two components requires a multipronged approach with new solar reference spectra, MHD modeling, and collaborations among astrophysics communities.
