Parker Solar Probe Observations of the Release of Density Blobs and Flux Ropes at the Heliospheric Current Sheet
Abstract
We present Parker Solar Probe observations of several heliospheric current sheet crossings during the first two encounters of the mission. The data show a large variability in the internal structure of the HCS. We focus in particular on the recurrent observation of density enhancements, interleaved with magnetic field enhancements, and which are deemed the signature of the sequential release of flux ropes and blobs from the tip of the helmet streamers.
