Learning about coronal polarization through forward modeling
Abstract
We present scientific results from forward modeling of coronal polarization signals whereby synthetic data is created from coronal models. We have worked with spheromak and cylindrical-type flux ropes, and breakout-type sheared arcade. Each of these magnetic configurations produces distinct polarization signatures. We present the results from our analysis as well as some of the challenges that we have faced, and the insight we have gained during the analysis. The goal is to present the scientific utility as well as the limitations of coronal polarization data.
