Strong MHD Turbulence with Cross Helicity
Abstract
Velocity and magnetic field fluctuations in the solar wind are often strongly correlated. This correlation, or cross helicity, indicates that much of the fluctuation energy is in Alfven waves propagating away from the Sun in the solar-wind frame. Although cross helicity has been studied in the solar-wind context for many years, the effects of cross helicity on solar-wind turbulence remain only partially understood. This poster presents some new theoretical results on how cross helicity affects the energy cascade rate and power spectra in strong MHD turbulence.
