Supramolecular self-assembly of Ph2Tl(S2COMe) based on a rare coordination mode of the xanthate ligand and thallium⋯π-phenyl interactions

Diphenylthallium(III) xanthates, Ph₂Tl(S₂COR), R=Me, Et, iso-Pr, Bz, have been prepared from Ph₂TlBr and KS₂COR, and the crystal structure of Ph₂Tl(S₂COMe) has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The compound displays a supramolecular structure consisting of Ph₂Tl(S₂COMe) tectons, self-assembled through intermolecular Tl⋯S and Tl⋯O secondary bonds and Tl⋯π-phenyl interactions.
