The Height and Temporal Structure of X-Ray Bright Points
Abstract
On April 12, 1996, several ground-based observatories, the Yohkoh/SXT and the SOHO/MDI, EIT, SUMER, and CDS instruments participated in a collaborative study of X-Ray Bright Points (XBPs). During a several hour period, simultaneous images were obtained of an area centered at N10E00. At NSO/KP, observations were made of the HeI 1083 nm line profile from which we have derived the intensity at line center, equivalent width, and the velocity at every 1 pixel (1.15 arc-seconds) within an 8 x 8 arc-minute area. Our paper will present the results of a comparison, spatially and temporally, of these data with changes in the magnetic field observed by the MDI, intensities and velocities observed with SUMER and CDS, and the intensity images observed by the SXT and EIT. We will use this ensemble of intensity, magnetic and velocity field images to derive the height structure of XBPS, its variation as a function of time and relation to the associated magnetic field configuration.
