Medium resolution spectroscopy of Hα objects in IC 1396.
Abstract
We made medium resolution (100A/mm) spectroscopy of 35 stars, picked up as suspected Hα emission objects on small scale spectra, in the IC 1396 star-forming region. Statistical studies based on factor analysis and k-means clustering yielded templates for further classification. Using proper motion data published in the literature we suggest that the vast majority of our objects belong to the cluster Tr37 of IC 1396. Plotting the program stars, along with theoretical evolutionary tracks, onto the {logL;logT_eff_} plane we concluded that they are pre-main sequence objects of 0.5Msun_<M<3Msun_ masses and 10^5^<t<10^7^years age.
