On the differential and total asymmetry of Fraunhofer lines in the solar spectrum.
Abstract
Describes a new quantitative method proposed by Kuli-Zade for determining differential and total asymmetry of weak and moderate Fraunhofer lines in the spectrum of the solar disk center. This method makes it possible to determine quantitatively the asymmetry of lines and variations in line profiles. The high-resolution digital atlas of the solar disk center spectrum by Delbouille et al. (1973) was used. The differential and total asymmetries were calculated for the λ4443.812 Å Ti II line as an example. The bisector and differential asymmetry methods are compared using the λ6151.623 Å Fe I line.
