Numerical Simulation of Chromospheric Spicules Driven by Weakly-Damped Alfven Waves
Abstract
The authors perform a time-dependent numerical simulation of the momentum transfer from weakly-damped Alfvén waves to the solar chromospheric plasma in a spatially expanding flux tube. The momentum transfer is due to the effect of ion-neutral collisions of Alfvén waves. By solving one-dimensional and time-dependent hydrodynamic equations, the authors study the formation of spicules.
