The Search for Protostars Using Millimeter/Submillimeter Dust Emission as a Tracer
Abstract
There are seven main topics considered in the paper: (1) An overview concerning the formation and evolution of protostars; (2) millimeter/submillimeter dust emission--a new tool for investigating high density regions; (3) star formation rates and the number of detectable isothermal protostars; (4) the case of NGC 2024--molecular spectroscopy at its limits; (5) Morphology of low and medium mass star forming clouds--the Ophiuchus Cloud; (6) Morphology of high-mass star forming clouds; and (7) Searching for the low mass protostars.
