Yohkoh basks in sunlight
Abstract
The Japanese Yohkoh solar-astronomy satellite uses a battery of X-ray instruments, including soft X-ray and hard X-ray telescopes, to study such complex magnetic field patterns as the reconnection of field lines, which is important for the release of energy in the solar atmosphere. By these means, X-ray jets have been observed in the corona; the magnetic bipolar nature of the coronal bright points has been firmly established as well.
