Introduction to Stellar Astrophysics. Vol.3: Stellar structure and evolution
Abstract
The present volume on current physical understanding of the internal structure of stars gives attention to basic principles while stressing comparisons with observations capable of elucidating stellar evolution. Treatments are conducted of the hydrostatic and thermal equilibriums, opacities, convective instability and energy transport, the depths of the outer convection zones, stellar energy-generation processes, the basic stellar-structure equations, the influence of convection zones on stellar structure, main-sequence star models, the evolutionary paths of low mass and massive stars, the late stages of stellar evolution, pulsating stars, and the Cepheid mass problem.
