Force-free magnetic field in an asymmetric interplanetary cloud.
Abstract
Approaches and solutions for determining the distribution of a force-free magnetic field inside a perfectly conducting tube of arbitrary cross section are examined. The magnetic field distribution inside a cloud whose boundary is a perfectly conducting parabolic cylinder is found; this situation corresponds to the possible deformation of a magnetic flux of solar origin moving in interplanetary space. The solutions obtained can be used to interpret satellite data on magnetic clouds.
