Modeling of wave effects in the distribution of atomic oxygen on the basis of turbulent diffusion
Abstract
It is shown that, in a number of cases, the wavelike form of vertical distributions of atomic oxygen, observed in experiments, can be explained on the basis of smooth turbulent diffusion. The present analysis is based on a model of the main neutral components of the upper atmosphere (O, O2, and N2), developed with allowance made for molecular diffusion of the multicomponent mixture together with photochemical processes, mean mass transfer, and turbulent diffusion.
