Electron collisional rates for atomic hydrogen, revisited
Abstract
It is shown that there are significant inconsistencies in the compilation of electron impact transition rate coefficients for atomic hydrogen by Giovanardi et al. (1987) and Giovanardi and Palla (1989). In particular, the rates for the n-n prime transitions 1-4, 2-4, 3-4, 3-5, 4-5, and 4-6 are not consistent with neighboring transitions rates, and qualitatively disagree with the rates of Johnson (1972).
