Turbulent Transport in Stellar Radiation Zones: Causes and Effects
Abstract
We briefly review the instabilities which are the most likely to generate turbulent transport of chemicals and of angular momentum in radiative stellar interiors, namely the shear instabilities due to differential rotation. Estimates are given for the turbulent diffusivity, and it is examined how a meridional circulation can cause such differential rotation.
