A possible explanation of the asymmetry in the immersion and emersion light curves at 12.5 Saturn radii
Abstract
The absorption features seen in the immersion and emersion light curves at 12.5 Saturn radii have antisymmetric wings. These give rise to dissimilarity in the two light curves. The antisymmetric wings may arise as a reuslt of absorption by extinction lanes having large vertical extent. From the duration of the wings an upper limit has been set on the possible vertical thickness of these extinction zones.
