IR spectra of ion-irradiated organic materials - Astrophysical applications
Abstract
The authors discuss IR spectra of organic materials both commercial and newly produced in the laboratory and their changes due to fast ion bombardment. The results indicate in particular: a preferential loss of hydrogen, darkening, amorphization, a rearrangement in the molecular structure. Some astrophysical applications and observations from space missions are suggested.
