Radiation energy estimation and analysis of optical solar flares observed in 1978.
Abstract
Radiation energies of 5508 flares observed in 1978 are estimated. The radiation in all lines and in continua of hydrogen series (beginning with Lyman) with typical parameters of the flares of different intensities is taken into consideration. Mean energy values are obtained for flares of every importance which increase with importance, whereas the number of the flares observed decreases. With the flare energy decrease their number increases at first up to 5×1020J and then fastly decreases. This suggests that the flares on the Sun are independent events among other non-stationary processes.
