Energy distribution of 15, 000 solar flares
Abstract
An estimation of the radiation energy of 15 thousand flares observed during the period of 1978 - 1979 is made and an analysis is performed of their energy distribution. An equation is suggested for the energetic flare index which is characteristic of the flare energy release. Arguments are presented in favour of the idea that solar flares are an independent class of events on the sun. It is shown that the distributions of flares over energy both on the sun and on the UV Cet-type stars can be expressed by power dependences and have the same exponent.
