Stellar activity cycles
Abstract
Stellar activity cycles in the corona, chromosphere, photosphere, and deeper layers are examined. Observational problems related to the study of magnetic flux variations during solar cycle, of changes in the deeper layer and convective zone, and of ancient sun activity are described. Chromospheric activity cycles in ordinary stars, irradiance cycles in spotted stars, and flare frequency cycles in flare stars are considered. The need for the analysis of magnetic cycles in stellar activity and of cyclic activity in ordinary stars, and direct imaging of stellar surfaces is discussed.
