Tapered wiggler free electron laser oscillation
Abstract
A tapered wiggler free electron laser oscillator has been operated at the wavelength 1.6 micron. The laser was operated with 0, 1, and 2 percent tapers in energy, achieving laser efficiency as high as 1.2 percent, or about 3 times the untapered case.
