A comparative analysis of optically pumped and electron-beam-pumped broadband excimer lasers
Abstract
A comparison is made of optically pumped and electron-beam-pumped lasers based on three-atom excimers and C-A transition of the XeF excimer. The parameters under consideration are the small-signal gain, absorption losses, and energy characteristics. The electron-beam-pumped laser exhibited gain factors larger by an order of magnitude than those observed in the optically pumped laser, making it theoretically possible to maintain a periodic-pulse regime with a much higher pulse repetition rate. The optically pumped laser, however, exhibited lower absorption.
