A model for elliptical radio galaxies with dust lanes.
Abstract
The stationary states of motion of gas in a triaxial stellar system which rotates about one of its principal axes are described. It is noted that four dynamically different situations are possible and that in two of these the gas layer is warped. The morphology of elliptical radio galaxies with dust lanes, such as NGC 5128 (Cen A) and M84, can be understood through this model; transient phenomena are not required.
