Five minute oscillations as a probe of the solar interior
Abstract
A review of recent observations is used to demonstrate that the solar five minute oscillations consist of a large number of nonradial acoustic modes. It is argued that observations of these modes would provide a probe of the solar interior. A detailed modeling of the five minute oscillations has shown that a standard solar model with standard boundary conditions agrees with the observations.
