The observation of a high-latitude coronal transient
Abstract
On 1979 September 27 NRL's earth-orbiting coronagraph (Solwind) observed a coronal mass ejection whose outward direction in the plane of the sky was within 12 deg of the sun's north polar axis. Such high-latitude transients were not observed by the OSO 7 and Skylab coronagraphs during the declining phase of the last sunspot cycle, but may be relatively common near sunspot maximum.
