Use of the infra-red flux method for determining stellar effective temperatures and angular diameters; the stellar temperature scale.
Abstract
An alternative method of using the infra-red flux method for determining stellar effective temperatures and angular diameters is presented. Tables are presented giving the ratios of integrated stellar fluxes to monochromatic fluxes as a function of wavelength, gravity and effective temperature for two model atmospheres. Measured values of these ratios for 28 stars are used in conjunction with these tables to determine values of Te and θ for them. The results have been applied to the construction of a stellar temperature scale for luminosity class V stars.
