On the two-parameter models for stellar coronae.
Abstract
The two-parameter model developed by Hearn (1975) is reconsidered. A constraint required within the framework of such models is found which is not consistent, in general, with the minimum-flux condition conjectured by Hearn and which provides an alternative reduction of the models to one parameter. The corresponding relations are given explicitly for the special case of heating by weak shock waves when heat conduction back to the chromosphere dominates the energy losses by the corona.
