Hydrogen in metals I - Basic properties
Abstract
Papers are presented on the elastic interaction and phase transition in coherent metal-hydrogen alloys and on lattice strains due to hydrogens in metals. Consideration is given to vibrations in metal hydrides as evaluated by neutron spectroscopy, changes in electronic properties on hydrogen alloying and hydride formation, and Moessbauer studies of metal-hydrogen systems. The magnetic properties of metal hydrides and hydrogenated intermetallic compounds are described and the theory of the diffusion of hydrogen in metals is presented. Nuclear magnetic resonance on metal-hydrogen systems is described and attention is given to quasi-elastic neutron scattering studies of metal hydrides. The magnetic aftereffects of hydrogen isotopes in ferromagnetic metals and alloys are identified and the diffusion of hydrogen in metals is outlined. Positive muons as light isotopes of hydrogen are discussed.
