The cooling of solar wind protons from mariner 2 data
Abstract
We examine the possibility that cooling of solar wind protons has escaped detection in the Mariner 2 data. After dividing the data into two velocity ranges and introducing an intermediate quantity τ to decrease the strong dependence of temperature on velocity, we find that the low-velocity data exhibit cooling.
