Progress report on separators sidonie and Paris
Abstract
Our isotope separators are used full-time for isotope separations. The only study made on them deals with the use of a curved emitting slit in order to reduce the beam height inside the magnetic gap. Many rare gas separations have been performed yielding more than 1 g of 10 isotopes of Ne, Kr and Xe. The isotopic purities lie between 99% and 99.99%, while chemical purities are always better than 99.9%. Some technical details on these separations are given. Some of them include separations in a "closed loop circuit"; then the efficiency reaches approximately 30%. Some examples of the use of highly enriched isotopes (nuclear physics and atomic physics) are given.
