Contours of Emission Lines of Inhomogeneous Solar Formations
Abstract
It is shown that chromospheric flares and prominences are essentially inhomogeneous and that the theoretical line profiles of these phenomena have to be calculated taking this inhomogeneity into account. In this case, the observed line profiles are in accordance with the theoretical ones. Theoretical half-width curves of the line profiles of inhomogeneous emission formations have been calculated for different relative values of turbulent velocities in order to determine the optical thicknesses.
