MK morphology of a group of Am stars.
Abstract
Among the "classical" metallic-line stars (Roman et al.), some of those showing the greatest difference between K-line type and metallic-line type are found to have markedly brighter luminosity classes in the violet than in the blue spectral region: in the range AA3850-4l00, the luminosity classes range from Ib to III; in the region of the G band, the luminosity classes are usually IV and V. The most striking example of this phenomenon is HD 103877, where the blue metallic-line type is F5 IV and the violet type is F5 Ib.
