Absolute ultraviolet spectrophotometry from the TD-1 satellite. VII. Ultraviolet variations of zeta Tau.
Abstract
Magnitude and color variations are observed in the S 2/68 UV spectra of Zeta Tau, whereas the depth of the absorption features appears to stay mainly constant. The spectral type deduced from the energy-distribution envelope and the depth of the absorption features at 1410, 1555, and 1615 A is earlier than that deduced from optical observations, in agreement with other UV observations. On the other hand, Zeta Tau shows a large UV defect, probably due to the absorbing shell.
