Distribution and ages of Magellanic Cepheids
Abstract
The distribution and ages of Magellanic Cepheids are discussed. Data cover: (1) ages of color magnitude array clusters, luminosities of Wolf-Rayet stars, and periods of Cepheids, (2) the use of period changes for gallactic and Magellanic Cepheids to test time scales derived for Cepheids, (3) possible differences of composition, and (4) differences and compatability of period-amplitude and period-frequency relations. Data suggest that the observed differences between the three systems can be interpreted in terms of differences in the timetable of star formation, without the need to invoke initial differences of composition.
