Line Transfer in Two Dimensions
Abstract
A method is presented for solving the equation of radiative transfer for a spectral line formed in a multidimensional atmosphere. The method generalizes the Feautrier solution in one dimension and allows the study of atmospheres which exhibit horizontal fluctuations in all parameters. Model two-dimensional problems are discussed.
