Origin of Planetary Nebulae
Abstract
STATISTICAL arguments have been advanced to demonstrate that all or a large fraction of stars with masses comparable with that of the Sun become planetary nebulae during the course of their evolution1,2. It has further been argued that these stars are the evolutionary products of horizontal branch stars, although the mechanism for the ejection of the expanding shell has remained a mystery.
