Ejection of Hydrogen and Ionized Calcium Atoms with High Velocity at the Time of Solar Flares.
Abstract
High-velocity ejections of both hydrogen and ionized calcium atoms at the time of onset of five flares near the solar limb are described. For four of the five cases, reports of solar radiation at radio frequencies are available and indicate bursts or "outbursts" at the start of the flare and ejection. Consideration of time relationships and of the frequency of occurrence of 200 Mc/sec bursts with flares leads to the suggestion that the burst at radio frequencies is to be associated with the high-velocity ejection rather than with the Ha brightening.
